How Many Students Attend Grand Canyon University?

Since being founded in 1949, Grand Canyon University has continued to grow and gain reputation as a premier private Christian university. GCU seeks to meet the needs of all of their students by providing them with an education to prepare them to become effective servant leaders in the workforce. With all of the exciting new additions on campus, the university has been able to open its doors and accommodate more GCU students than ever before.   

University Growth

As of 2017, there are over 19,000 students that attend GCU’s main campus in Phoenix, while more than 70,000 attend GCU online. The university has plans to continue expanding the student population as well as the campus itself. In addition to enhancing the campus experience, GCU aims to accommodate its growing online and evening student communities. With thousands of GCU students attending class from around the globe, digital platforms are constantly being refined to deliver GCU’s campus experience to virtual settings. In addition, GCU offers a satellite location in Northwest Phoenix to help full-time and evening students attend their classes closer to home.

GCU Student Resources

GCU understands the importance of a having a positive college experience and offers a variety of student resources that are tailored to the unique needs of their students. For campus students, many resources are available to create a positive campus experience. The GCU Learning Lounge offers tutoring services for students who are in their toughest courses. In addition, the Office of Career Services provides resources, knowledge and support for students as they transition from college to a meaningful career. The Office of Residence Life ensures GCU students feel safe and comfortable living on campus and the Department of Spiritual Life fosters a Christian community on campus. GCU also understands the importance of having good health while pursuing an education. The Health and Wellness Clinic offers healthcare services to students.

In addition, GCU offers a variety of online degrees to help individuals advance in their career. These programs offer students flexibility while earning a quality education, as they benefit from full-time faculty and adjunct instructors who are committed to their growth and success. Online students can take advantage of the resources GCU has to offer in order to successfully navigate their academic journey. For example, the College Transfer Center provides assistance to students who are transferring to GCU. Transferring colleges may seem overwhelming, but the center aims to make the process as smooth as possible. In addition, as GCU’s online programs are backed by the legacy of the traditional campus, online students receive full access to campus events. This way, they can take part in campus life while conveniently earning their degree.

What is New on Campus for GCU Students?

Throughout its history, GCU has made significant changes to its campus. With new residence halls, dining options, libraries, classroom buildings and the newly renovated GCU Arena, GCU students can experience a vibrant campus life. GCU is currently in the midst of its most exciting era, as the university continues to grow east toward Interstate 17 with apartment-style living areas, the new Colangelo College of Business building and a new recreation center.

GCU’s atmosphere of constant innovation is also incorporated into curriculum, as the university offers academic programs across nine colleges. The College of Science, Engineering and Technology continues to grow as new degree programs are added in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. At GCU, visionaries collaborate with industry leaders to create programs in high demand fields as well as unique specializations. For example, the Center for Worship Arts offers a variety of theology degrees for students who are passionate about worship.

With expansion occurring every year, GCU intends to continue to enhance the student experience. Students who live on campus can feel at home as they become involved in GCU’s community, and online and evening students can enjoy the benefits of earning their degree in a convenient format.
