Why are there so many Christian denominations?
Dean of the College of Theology Jason Hiles, PhD, and University Pastor Tim Griffin answered this question in the latest episode of Trending Faith.
Dr. Hiles gave practical reasons for why there are so many denominations and also explained that, despite these denominations, all Christians hold the same core beliefs.
“Since the early centuries of the Christian faith, all believers have held the essentials in common, though there are non-essentials on which we differ,” Dr. Hiles explained. “There is a sense in which we have in common: one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father, one incredible experience.
“There is a unity in Christ that is transcendent across time, geographical locations, cultures, and languages.”
