  • Principles of Writing -
    Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing for New Media will have a basic knowledge of rhetorical theory and will be able to identify and analyze the rhetorical situation and use of rhetorical devices in a variety of professional writing disciplines. In addition, they will be able to write effective persuasive texts.
    • Integrate multiple credible research sources to create convincing arguments.
    • Use the conventions of standard written English when composing a text.
    • Use the appropriate professional style when composing a text.
    • Use professional proofreading and editing skills to revise a text for better development, clarity, and organization.
  • Composition -
    Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing for New Media will be able to write in a variety of genres (both print and digital) related to professional contexts and audiences; adapt to new and unfamiliar genres and audiences; conduct appropriate inquiry (including research and invention) for genres and contexts in which they write; argue effectively; use appropriate written conventions; and review, edit, and revise their own work (as well as the work of others) effectively.
    • Produce written composition based on the conventions of a genre.
    • Use rhetorical devices to compose a persuasive message.
    • Produce written compositions for a specific purpose and audience.
  • Professional Writing -
    Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing for New Media will be able to communicate effectively in various media for diverse public and disciplinary communities.
    • Combine writing and multi-modal elements for effective communication to a specific audience and for an intended purpose.
    • Write persuasively for specific business or organizational requirements.
    • Prepare a text for professional publication.
    • Follow ethical standards appropriate to a specific writing genre.
    • Use digital methods and online platforms to publish writing.
