Transfer Credits

As a military student, you have earned potential college credits through military training and experience. At GCU, our expert military university counselor can help you to determine how your credits will transfer over, as a well as project your graduation date.

Military students may transfer in up to 90 credits, including 30 credits from military training, 30 credits from alternative credit options such as the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) or Prometric DSST Exams and 30 credits from other higher education institutions. When you submit your transcripts to a military university counselor, you will receive the following information:

  • Review of your Joint Services Transcript or CCAF to see which military experiences and training correspond to college credits
  • Review any previous college coursework you have completed
  • Your anticipated graduation date
  • Which classes will transfer to GCU
  • Additional classes you will need to graduate
  • Estimated tuition costs
  • Financial aid and scholarship opportunities
  • One-on-one counseling to review program options

Earn Your Degree Conveniently

Grand Canyon University offers a wide variety of degree programs that can be earned online or in the evening. Therefore, you can earn your degree in the format that is most convenient for you! With the demands faced by military professionals and their families, online education is a great way to earn a college degree. An online format will allow you to complete your coursework on your own time and from the comfort of your home, wherever you’re stationed.

On the other hand, if you prefer face-to-face instruction, consider attending class one night per week on GCU’s main campus in Phoenix or at select campus extension locations. By choosing this route, you can benefit from small class sizes, team camaraderie and networking opportunities.

Overall, Grand Canyon University is a great place for military students to earn their education, as GCU understands the military lifestyle and what military students need to be successful.
