Core Competencies in Social Work and Human Services

In this program, you will complete coursework that provides you with the ability to view situations from a Christian perspective. Also, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of core social work and human services competencies, including applied sociology, sociological perspectives, social work theory, assessment and practice.

How to Integrate Sociological Theories with Social Services Skills

This social work degree teaches you how to take the communication, intervention and management competencies necessary for effective social work and combine them with sociological theories of culture, institutions and socialization. You will also examine how different perspectives influence social service practice and programs.

Critical Areas of Social Work and Sociology

Throughout this program, you will explore and study a broad range of social work and sociology topics, such as methods for social research to develop statistics, frameworks of social stratification and religious organizations, beliefs and practices. Some of the other areas of study include human behavior, case management and direct practice. To conclude this program, you will complete a capstone project in which you will examine sociological concepts by analyzing real-life individuals and their experiences, with the goal of creating a portfolio demonstrating the skills and knowledge that you’ve acquired.
