If you want to teach business, then enrolling in Grand Canyon University’s Bachelor of Science in Business for Secondary Education program is a great idea. This program is written to the most recent standards from the National Business Education Association, and was derived from a partnership between the College of Education and the Colangelo College of Business. The bachelor of business education program combines core coursework with integral components of a business education, including economics, accounting and finance, principles of marketing and ethical and legal issues in business. This program can prepare you for a variety of exceptional careers, including:

Middle School Instructor

This program features a number of courses that focus on helping future teachers develop skills and best practices for classroom learning. Learning how to organize and run a classroom is an important part of learning how to run a successful team. Because of this, your degree can prepare you for a career as a middle school instructor. This might be a good option for you if you enjoy working with younger students in grades 5-8. For this option, you would need to student teaching in a middle school setting, which would make you eligible for a middle school endorsement in the state of Arizona.

High School Business Teacher

If you are interested in teaching but think that older students might be more your speed, then you can also use your degree to pursue a career as a high school business teacher. During your time in the business education program, you’ll learn about various techniques for teaching business in both middle and high school environments. Business education teachers often teach marketing and sponsor Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), which prepares high school students as emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.

Education Consultant

Teachers aren’t the only ones helping students find academic success – education consultants can also play an important role when it comes to students finding the right path in school. These professionals work with schools and families to develop strategies to help students succeed and enjoy their time in school. A background in business is a great foundation for anyone interested in becoming an education consultant.

GCU can help you prepare for these careers as well as many others. If you want more information about our education degree programs, visit the College of Education or go to the top of this page and click the green Request More Information button.
