Looking to pursue a career in worship ministry? At Grand Canyon University, students who are passionate about worship can discover performance and production opportunities at the Center for Worship Arts. Ever since its launch, exciting things have been happening for the center, such as the release of the first full-length Canyon Worship album.

According to John Frederick, worship coordinator for the Center for Worship Arts, the center’s mission is to train students to become theological artists. Through GCU’s worship arts program, you can grow in your musical abilities and prepare to lead impactful worship.

In the past, individuals who wanted to lead worship in the church setting could earn either a traditional music degree or a theology degree. However, with GCU’s new worship arts program, you can incorporate both music and theology into your education.

The Center for Worship Arts gives you the opportunity to build community with like-minded individuals, as you all can gather in the GCU Recording Studio to create music and share your passion. In addition, practicing in a real-life studio allows you to gain valuable experience and perfect your craft in a professional setting.

Furthermore, thanks to the Center for Worship Arts, you have the opportunity to learn from successful musicians in the field. For example, current worship arts students recently had a chance to assist Rend Collective, an Irish Christian worship band, with back-up vocals for their new album.

The Center for Worship Arts provides structure, yet offers freedom at the same time. This creates the best kind of atmosphere for an artist, as you are encouraged to use the resources of the studio to do what you are passionate about. According to John Frederick, the freedom students have to be creative is the most exciting aspect of the program.

The Center for Worship Arts has high hopes for the future. As students prepare to become theological artists, they can make an impact for Christ in today’s world.
