Monday Morning Chapel: The Man Nobody Remembered

GCU Chapel Logo

Sean Myers of Redemption Peoria keyed in on our weaknesses and pressed against our egos at today’s Chapel service. Sean pulled from two scriptures, Ecclesiastes 9:14-15 and 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, talking about weaknesses and making a difference.

Starting off with the verses from Ecclesiastes, Sean focused on the last line of the short narrative, “but nobody remembered that poor man.” This man made a difference; this poor man saved a city from being taken over by this king. But nobody remembered him.

“My goal and hope is that when we walk out of here, we recognize that the story of the bible is not about you,” exclaimed Sean (5:30).

The honest truth that Sean shared with the crowd this morning was that we tend to convolute the Bible to fit our lives, to fit what we want and to look how we want it to. But we need to check our ego at the door when it comes to serving God. Even if nobody remembers us, our lives are for the glory of God alone.
