Center for Innovation and Research Teaching

GCU believes that innovative research fosters creativity, critical thinking, and learning. The Center for Innovation and Research Teaching (CIRT) exists to facilitate excellence in scholarship and instruction across the university. CIRT is driven by experienced faculty, and it crosses teaching disciplines to create an integrated community of educators.

Journal of Instructional Research

The Journal of Instructional Research (JIR) is an annual publication created by CIRT, and it helps scholars increase their understanding of how to apply the best practices in college teaching. As a doctoral learner, you will be able to attain research-ready certification and prepare to interact with scholarly research. In addition, you will have the opportunity to apply for a variety of grants and even find out how to submit your own research.

Institutional Review Board

When conducting research, it is important to ensure that it meets the highest ethical standards and complies with federal regulations. At GCU, the Institutional Review Board takes on this role by providing timely and efficient processing, review, monitoring, tracking and reporting all of the research protocols and IRB activities. In addition, the IRB requires that all research conducted by the GCU community protects human participants, develops and sustains an ethical research environment, ensures that researchers are qualified and adds value to the academic community and society.

Based on these resources available at GCU, it is easy to see that research is a cornerstone of the College of Doctoral Studies. If you are pursuing your doctoral degree and interested in exploring the field of doctoral research, GCU is a great place to earn your education!
