5 Questions to Ask When You Transfer Colleges to GCU

Transferring colleges is a big milestone for a number of students. Grand Canyon University understands the gravity of the decision-making process and how it can weigh heavily on your mind. To eliminate any stress or nerves, here are some of the most important questions to ask when you transfer colleges to GCU.
What are the admission requirements for transfer students?
GCU’s admission requirements vary based on the number of eligible transfer credits you have taken. Check out our requirements and work with a transfer specialist to find out if you are eligible for admission.
How will my previous college credits transfer?
GCU offers a service called the LOPES Credit Evaluation, which helps you estimate how many credits will transfer and how quickly you can earn your degree at GCU. During this process, you are assigned to a LOPES specialist, who will review your transcripts and determine how your credits may transfer to your program of choice.
The best part? Grand Canyon University can accept up to 90 credits from your previous institution (if the credits meet the degree and specific course requirements) or up to 30 credits from alternative credit options.
Can I earn credits for military and/or life experiences?
Yes! GCU recognizes that you may have earned potential college credit through military training or life experiences. A military enrollment representative can help you evaluate your transcripts to determine how many credits can be accepted.
If you have gained life experience that may qualify as credit, then you have the opportunity to take the Lifelong Learning Assessment and earn up to eight general education or elective credits.
Are scholarships available for transfer students?
Several GCU-specific scholarships are available for students who transfer to Grand Canyon University. For example, students may qualify for the Indirect Start Scholarship, Priority Registration Grant, Phi Theta Kappa Grant and many more! GCU also permits numerous outside scholarship opportunities to be combined with GCU scholarships to help you pay for your education.
What are the tuition rates for in-state and out-of-state transfer students?
At Grand Canyon University, tuition rates for in-state, out-of-state and international students are all the same! This allows every student to get an education at an affordable rate. Plus, in-state students can qualify for a grant by graduating from one of GCU’s participant high schools.
