Do you have an interest in becoming an elementary education major at Grand Canyon University? If so, find out how GCU’s elementary education program can prepare you for your dream career as an educator!
One of the biggest ways college prepares you for life as an educator is by providing you with guidance in developing required skills, knowledge and experience. GCU has proudly maintained a rich heritage as a prestigious teaching college for over 60 years.
Whether you earn an online education degree or you take classes on campus, GCU’s small class sizes give you a chance to engage with experienced faculty. An additional feature that is unique to GCU is the COE Promise, which allows you to receive continued support from the College of Education’s experienced faculty members if you experience any challenges during your first year as an educator.
The faculty and staff in GCU’s College of Education are committed to nurturing and inspiring you to excel in preparation for your life as an educator. In the elementary education program, you will learn innovative and research-based best teaching practices to maximize student learning and achievements, as well as how to engage diverse communities of learners with a strong sense of purpose.
During your studies, you will also have an opportunity to student teach, allowing you to apply the concepts you learned in your program of study. GCU’s faculty and staff are passionate about inspiring you to nurture your calling to teach with passion and purpose.
GCU encourages students to lead through the style of servant leadership, through the context of our Christian worldview. The purpose of servant leadership involves putting others needs ahead of your own to provide “service before self.” If you embrace the spirit of servant leadership, you become an exceptionally hard worker, and you provide service in your teaching strategy to enhance your students’ learning experience.
