The Honors College hosts a number of events throughout the year, including opportunities to learn all about the college and the benefits of joining. The Honors College is at every Discover GCU and Preview GCU event. Once you are an honors student at Grand Canyon University (GCU), you have the opportunity to participate in guest speaker events, volunteer opportunities and more. Honors College Accolades

  • Honors student Taylor Donoho received an internship as a legal assistant for the Anne M. Williams Law Office, a family and juvenile attorney.
  • Students in the Honors College volunteered at St. Mary’s Food Bank, the college football playoffs, Casa Academy College Preparatory and Southwest Behavioral Health.
  • Honors students Brittney Holen, Brenda Lara and Alena Gladwin received Outstanding Senior of the Year awards from GCU.
  • Honors student Natalie Tardy earned a $1,500 scholarship from the Arizona Chapter of Financial Executives International.
  • Chelsea Evans, Josh McGuire, Luke Amargo and Catherine Xiong, all students in the Honors College, placed in the silver bracket at the Arizona Collegiate Venture Competition, winning $3,500 in prize money for their business idea, Storage Together.
  • Honors student Bridgette Smith received the Top Academic Award at the American Criminal Justice Association Champion.  
  • Sydney Knight, treasurer of GCU’s Educators Rising and a student in the Honors College, gave a presentation at the Educators Rising Fall Leadership Conference at Arizona State University.
  • Honors STEM students Gabriela Calhoun, Brianna Abbot, Emma Olcricht, Jacob Windauer, Nicholas Windauer and Ethan Nichols won the Honors College Final Symposium Showcase with their 3D printing project and four-year plan for product development on an emergency life-saving device.
  • Honors College alumna Taylor Donaho was accepted into the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in California with a $40,000 scholarship!
  • Honors alumna Megan Flores was accepted into the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) at Midwestern University.
  • Honors STEM students secured internships at TGEN, ON Semiconductor, Arise Prosthetics and Science Technologies Corporation.
  • Cathleen Daly completed an internship through the AZ State Legislature and is off to attend the National Conference of State Legislatures in Boston in summer 2017.
  • Storage Together members Luke Amargo, Josh McGuire and Braden Scheer are off to the US-Sino Pan-Entertainment Festival in Wuhan, China in summer 2017 to participate in another investor's pitch.
  • Honors alumna Nikita Pradhan conducted a research project on the Zika virus with the Santa Cruz County Health Department, and is now studying at the University of California San Diego in the Master of Science in Public Health program.
  • Honors students Zach Merhavy, Anna Cofrancesco and Thomas Varkey attended and presented at the 2017 Alpha Chi National Conference in Louisville, KY.
  • Honors students Zach Merhavy, Brianna Samonte and Emily Ghena attended and participated in the 2016 Minority Student Medical Career Fair and Conference in Seattle, WA.
